Convertible top on a 1999 BMW 323 IC

Top doesn t go down but when I push button to lower it it makes noise as if thread of one screw or bolt was stripped,that s the noise that comes out from the convertible top's motor.

the motors are prob disengaged for emergency opening and closing of the c-top.gotta pop them back in and might need to reinitialize the top.are you familiar with this?
