Yes...this looks like a sweetie, if the interior is clean (NO prior smoker) and a service records DOES reveal a new timing chain and wear shoe/tensioner installed, yes if there has been this vulnerability taken care of would say yes...otherwise you're driving a time bomb, and either service this or NO then~

Says that there was a new timing belt installed and pretty much everything else that should be was replaced also

see if it tracks straight or was involved with any prior accidents...sight down the side to look for irregularities in the body work...carfax will tell you if it's been a prior salvage vehicle~

take it for a drive...if it wants to swim left or right and clearly is out of alignment because the steering wheel ain't pointing forward, when you are driving forward would be the cause for an alignment shop where they could tell you the state of the ball joints and pivots and bushings...a steering dampener if used might have a few problems~...I'm just sayin'~

Have a look at this post http://www.bimmerfest.com/wiki/index.php? title=BMW_E46#Weak_spots It either is close to needing this maintenance or will need this in the future. So you should budget for this work.

I bought a 2004 BMW 325xi. When I purchase it, it had approximately 98,000 miles on it. I have about 145,000 miles on it now. I have never had any problems with it. When I first purchased it, I took it to a BMW dealership and had maintenance completed on it. I replaced belts, brakes, had all oils drained, and new tires. I haven't had any problem with this car and it's a dream to drive. If I were you I would purchase it. I got offered 40,000 dollars for mine and turn it down. I think he's a collector and I know that 2004 was the last year BMW made 325 series.
