Should I use cheaper parts not made in the U S A ?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

some time ago i wrote " i have done all this work and what's next the ECM? I
was told "blown head gasket" and that would be VERY costly! I have found
out what the cause was!!!! Those cheap built in china coils are JUNK! 2 of
them are not firing at all.... and it's only been 1200 miles since they were
replaced! I put in a AC/DELCO bank of 4 coils and what a difference it has
made!  I hope in next months paycheck i can find the money to also replace
the other bank before they fail me too! So my advice is to pay the extra up
front  or pay in the rear.... it's up to you!

Good sound advice, Harold! I always use AC Delco parts for my GMs and Motorcraft for my Mercury. I advise people to do the same but usually get told I'm wasting my money. I do make exceptions when needed because of the age of the vehicle and the unavailability of Delco or Motorcraft parts. Like in 2018 when I had to replace the BCM on my '94 Fleetwood. The Delco BCM is no longer available so I bought a Cardone unit. It's been fine. Sometimes you have to go aftermarket. But if the OEM part is still available, that's what I get. The Delco battery in my 2003 S10 Pick Up recently had a birthday, it's 5 years old now and still going strong!! Thanks for your input!! Jim
