getting the starter off of a 1998 bmw 528i

we are trying to get the starter off of a 1998 bmw 528i and replace it with a new one.  we are having a hard time trying to get to it and getting it off.  Any suggestions out there?

I would suggest taking this to a mechanic only because I've worked on some of the German cars and it can be very hard to get clearance on these with just jackstands. Sometimes a lift is the only way to pull it off.

disconnect battery.there are 2 torx bolts on the starter.may need to drop exhaust and driveshaft,and removed the trans bracket bolts out,then jack up the front of motor to pitch it back and you can get to the bolts.if you have a manual trans pull out the slave cylinder.should be an 8mm 10mm and 13mm nuts on the starter for the electrical contacts.make sure its flush when you put the starter back in and tighten it.might want to make sure the dowel pin is clean and free of corrsion so it goes in right away all the way.
