What do i need on my car before doing methanol injection.

Asked by Aaron0960 Jun 19, 2017 at 11:31 AM about the 2000 BMW 5 Series 540i Sedan RWD

Question type: Car Customization

I was wondering if i could install methanol injection, or other type of
injection.
On my bmw...
The thing is i have seen comments on youtube, forums, and posts talking
about getting a turbo before doing that.
If turbo is not needed... where can i install it.
Like, on the air intake?... straight to the engine?.. like a direct port injection.
I dont know much about cars.
But ill be more than happy if someone can explain it to me. In simple
words.
Thanks :)

The purpose of methanol injection is primarily for cooling the incoming air charge. Turbo charging and super charging an engine heats up the air charge. Methanol injection is used to substantially cool the air and to stabilize combustion. without any kind of forced air induction methanol injection will not increase performance. And can actually do more damage than good.
