BMW 2001 525i body work

Asked by Guru9WQ7R9 Mar 03, 2021 at 04:24 PM about the 2001 BMW 5 Series 525i Sedan RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2001 525i.  There is some damage to
the rear door on the passenger side.  I would
like to replace rather than repair.  My question
is are there differences in the dimensions of
the rear door on the 5 series vs. the 3 series
and 7 series that prevent them to be
interchangeable? Is there some website that
has these measurements?  I am looking for
info prior to starting any work on the vehicle.

Ok, you will want to find or purchase another rear door from another 5 series, model years 1997 to 2003. The 3 or 7 series doors are sized differently.

I thought so... but had wishful thinking my perception was off and they were same sized. Thank you so much!
