2002 525i Sport or 2003 530i Sport

The 03 530 would be my choice. All of the bugs have been ironed out and with less mileage, you should enjoy it for quite a while. Also, ask your mechanic for his opinion. Which would he purchase?

I would also purchase the 03 530. I would chose this one because of the lower miles and also that other car has been hit from the rear. You mentioned that they replaced the bumper. depending on the impact of the crash depends on how much and what kind of damage that would have caused. There could still be rear end damage done to that other car. But its your choice!

Thanks for the input. The mechanic said he prefers the 530" something about how the engines are built - 525i is cast aluminum and the 530 is bored aluminum I think is what he said. Tried to get more info on that and it seems they are built the same - I must be missing something...hmm.

Basically, the cylinder heads are bored or increased in diameter and thusly changing the displacement from 2.5 to 3.0 liters utilizing the same aluminum block. I hope that helps.

the 530 is my choice larger engines has longer life specially with a car that is about 2.25 tons, i have a 530DA and my friend has a 523i my car has much more acceleration and power and if it was a 530i that will be much more power and acceleration my engine has about 200k km and now problems so a 530i should go up to 280k miles with no problems if you take good care of it.
