BMW buyback, is it considered a "salvage" title when ready to resell

If you are referring to buying it back from the insurance company after an accident then you probably won't be treated any differently than any other buyer ,,, if it's salvage ..it's salvage If you bought it to fix and sell then it depends on the state. Most states require a "reconstructed title" and the car will undergo a rigorous inspection ... the bad news is that Cars title will always be Identified as a reconstructed title
Bought it from a dealer but now trying to sell to a dealer, they are saying it has a salvage title but BMW just replaced the motor at some point.

How long ago was this engine replaced? By that definition, most 2011-2012 Hyundai Sonatas have salvage titles.
It was 4 or 5 years ago. The engine has about 40,000 miles and the transmission, body etc. has 90+. It has not given me any trouble, I just don't need it anymore. When I received a quote from a dealer on buying it, the amount was ridiculous. they are the ones claimed a "salvage" title. It isn't one so why would they say that?

In that case, the engine couldn't exceed the value of the car. It's probably a $10k-$12k car now, if not a little more. No idea why they would claim it's salvage, but if it's Carmax you're trying to sell it to, that's why. They're far from the best when it comes to appraising cars.
