The navigation system DVD in the trunk is hot and continues to run when the car is off. Is this normal? If not how do you get it to turn off

I'm asking because i simply did a gasket change on the valve covers and the mechanic is telling me that the covers are not even he put a ruler in one of the sides and it wasn't flat the whole way ...
