No Start

Asked by Mary Sep 24, 2013 at 08:25 PM about the 2007 BMW 7 Series 750i RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I put the Fob in, foot on brake and push the button....no start. The lights all come on, but no sound at all. By the way, it has only happen when warm.  I then take the fob out and put it in again, over and over again. It finally starts, but only after trying about 10 times.

Sorry Mary, Have you replaced the battery in your Fob and tried starting the car without putting the Fob in the ignition? If that didn't work your problem doesn't sound like a do it yourself repair. Have you had all of the Recalls corrected by a BMW dealer? If not, take it in and when they do the computer updates (Recalls are at not cost to you), it may correct your problem, or they'll tell you what it is and you can decide if you want them to fix it (at a cost) or not. I wouldn't drive the car except to a dealership or it may leave you stranded and that wouldn't be a good thing. I know that the Dealerships are expensive, and will always find more thing wrong than you want to hear, but our local dealer has been really good about solving my quirky problems, once in a while a no cost. Good luck, Rats

I have had the same problem, replaced the battery in the Fob and still random events when the dash lights up but the car wont start. Now, i have been told that it may be a faulty ground strap. Having it replaced and will see if that works. I knew it was something electronic as other sensors were blowing. Will report back whether or not this is the solution.

the start button itself is tied to the Battery Source and also tied to the switch in the brake pedal which is also tied to the starter itself and then to ground , that is your start circuit . Failure of either component or failure of any connection between either or any component will cause the circuit to fail no start . Plus any fuse
