2004 Deville Northstar using oil.

I have a 2004 Deville with the Northstar engine. Over the last few oil changes it seems to be using oil. Have had to add about 2 quarts during the normal 3000 mile oil change cycle. No leaks. If it is burning oil what is the standard engine work to repair?

no smoking that I can see. No visible tint on tail pipes.
