Mercedes 96 c200 (Auto)

Asked by Blonde_Locket Feb 11, 2018 at 10:13 PM about the 1996 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Sedan

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Sometimes my car seems to struggle when the
acceleration is applied then returns to how it
should. It does this when the brake is
applied/slowing /stopping and idles quite rough
when not moving at all as if the gas is struggling to
get through and the OBD scanner isn’t showing any
issues altho when this does occur check engine
light appears then disappears when it runs normal
again? It’s like the car picks and chooses when it
wants to do this - Runs well for a few weeks then
takes the day off from running well. Big headache.
Any suggestions as to what could be the problem?

Would change out fuel filter, clean throttle body, and possibly MAF with some CRC maf cleaner. Inspect your coils for cracks and have a look at the condition of the plugs. If all that checks out and your still having issues you may have to have Star diagnostic done. A regular obd unfortunately won't show all code issues. Good Luck!

still haven't got around to it but my dad keeps asking me which coil do I need? I have no idea and I thought there was only one type of coil I only know about ignition coils just to verify this is the one he needs to inspect for cracks, right?
