Cadillac CTS 2003 Stuck In Anti Theft

Asked by Devon Jan 29, 2019 at 08:18 PM about the 2003 Cadillac CTS RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Changed intake / valve gaskets , got everything
back together. Car drove fine all the way home ,
however it was shifting a little odd so I thought
maybe the ECM needed a little reprogramming , I
removed battery cables for a little while for about
30 minutes then I went outside and got in my car.
Without thinking I put my key in the ignition , then
remembered I had to connect cables. I connected
the cables, got back in my car and it said Anti theft
security on the screen. Engine will start but it wont
shift , key stuck in ignition. Fuel gauge doesnt
work. So I brought it to a GM mechanic , they
replaced anti theft module because they said it
wasnt getting any response,  they replaced it and
put a new battery in as well. They programmed it
and no progress , nothing worked and I'm $700 in
now. Any advice or tips?

Ditto. Happen to me almost one year ago. Had our mechanic repair it. He replaced the EMC. Doing this with a used EMC GAINED ME 4K more on mileage but seem to resolve issue. $900 out and month later...lost all electronic components while driving. About 5 min later the air and radio returned but not my gages or my traction control and reverse lights. Got home and couldn’t remove the key! Back to square 1! Still driving it like this and it sucks! At a loss financially and personally.
