How to disable overdrive on my '03 Cadillac Deville?

Asked by Eric Jun 05, 2012 at 01:29 PM about the 2003 Cadillac DeVille Sedan FWD

Question type: General

I'll be towing a trailer about a thousand miles and back, and did so with a different vehicle before with the
warning that I should turn off overdrive. In this car, though, there is no overdrive switch that I can see.
Should I run it in 3rd gear, is there a button somewhere that I'm missing, or what? Any help is appreciated!

Lock the shift lever in 3 rather D this will hold the transmission out of overdrive on most vehicles but I would check with Cadillac before towing just to make sure you do not burn up the transmission or overheat the engine.
