has there been an historic failure of fuel pumps in Devilles? I have a 2003 DHS and I have heard that GM fuel pumps are notorious at failing at around 100,000 miles.

In the big picture of things at that mileage any fuel pump could fail. That pump has pumped 5-10, 000 gallons of fuel.

Gmc and chev fuel pumps last @ least an average of 60,000 miles and up to 80,000 miles before the top mount starts to leak
i've had fuel pumps last the entire life of the car, nearly 200k miles. i just keep my fuel pump wet and not go below 4 gallons. that is the way to keep it functioning.
