Try the battery connections to see if they are loose. if your battery is not recent, it is old enough to have sulfated or failed. you can carry it in for a test and if required, get a new one. you still need to have clean, tight connections to continue the diagnosis.

If the battery does not fail a load test, then clean the posts and put a full recharge into it. The alternator should not be used to do this alone. You will find the brushes can burn right thru the slip rings on this application if you have alternator failure. The tests that follow, if needed, after everything so far involve starter internal contacts, try tapping on it if it still has no a cranking condition.
