2011 Subaru Outback CVT Transmission problem

Asked by Guy and Terry Dec 21, 2020 at 11:35 AM about the 2011 Subaru Outback 2.5i Premium

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Yesterday on my 2011 Outback the "VCD" light lit up solid, at the same time
the "BRAKE" light and the "AT OIL TEMP" light began blinking. Seems to be a
transmission problem but doesn’t seem to slip at all and drives as good as
ever, but when I shift from “D” to “M” instead of a gear number it’s 2 dashes,
and it won’t down shift. In “D” it accelerates smoothly from a stop, and
downshifts fine when I make a pass. Can anyone suggest a solution?

The problem is almost certainly transmission failure. You could take it to a Subaru dealer for diagnosis but unfortunately for you the results will probably not be good.
