2002 Cadillac DeVille rear light is not working.

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
I was replacing the fuse approximately every 7 days for the past month; however, this no longer takes care of the problem. All other lights on this light assembly work. The garage is telling the entire rear light assembly should be replaced at a cost $400. This seems excessive for what would appear to be a wiring issue. Any suggestions?

Find out what it blowing the fuse. That usually indicates a short circuit to ground. What assembly is the problem? What lights are and are not working?

The only light NOT working is the tail light. The garage wants to replace the entire rear tail light rather than find what would seem to be a short.
It sound like the problem is in the housing itself. Check out eBay. I see a lot of tail light assemblies starting at $100 and up to $400 for a new pair. They are easy to replace.

Thanks very much - I'll give that a go.

Turns out there was a short in the wiring - every time I turned the wheel to the right, it was rubbing against the wire and finally just shorted out. Total cost of repair was $72, so I'm thrilled to not be out $400.
I’m having the same issue my tail lights aren’t working I have a 2003 Cadillac deville I just took it last week to the shop and they charged me 300$ for a dignositc test along with telling me that my only problem was the fog light switch which was broke but all my other lights work where did you go ? And what was the issue ? Thank you for your help
