How do you release the emergency breaks on a 2001 Cadillac Seville SLS?

Put the transmission in gear to release it. The parking brake may not release automatically due to a failed vacuum switch or actuator.

Step on emergency break pedal and release.
if its not working properly there may be a lever down on the mechanisim next to the pedal.. just flip that
Our emergency brake got stuck on and would not release. My husband looked up under the dash next to the emergency brake and there is a yellow tab there. Just push it and the brake will release, but be sure and keep your hand on the emergency brake peddle because if you don't, it will release very quickly and hit you.

1998 Cadillac DeVille. Go to the EMERGENCY BRAKE PEDAL. Attached to the pedal bar is a RELEASE LEVER approximately 10 inches up from the foot pad on the pedal bar.
thank you to all that posted your outcome to this issue I as well was dealing with. I found the yellow lever under the dash just above the parking brake and was able to fix the immediate problem. from my experience I must say the way I laid to find the yellow level I was clear from the quick release of the pedal.
Having both a '00 & '01 Eldo w/ the exact same issue. I decided to check all vacuum lines routing & once @ the HVAC controller, traced thru the firewall to a Y connector which splits in 2 directions on the right side (passenger) of the engine compartment. The 3/16th dia hose that goes under the strut towers support brace and then along the outer edge of the manifold (plenum) cover, was deterioated & had a barely visible crack in it. I ran a new piece of hose thru a larger 1/2" OD fuel hose & re-routed it over the brace so engine heat wouldn't damage it again. Since the a/c vents were also starting to act erratically, it's logical that this was the main issue @ al times & now neither of the 2 cars have this issue. If you suspect an under dash problem, the vacuum line that serves the brake release diaphragm is medium grren in color and the last 1 on the HVAC block.
