Coolant flow

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2000 deville base. What would cause the coolant flow ,not to flow
through the bottom hose at the thermostat? It seems like the top hose is
getting hot and the other isnt, but the thermostat housing gets really hot.

Stuck thermostat, clogged radiator, or clogged coolant ports in motor. Sounds like a thermostat not opening. Remove thermostat and boil water and drop thermostat in the water and see if it opens in water above about 210 F.
