Motor

You meant 5.4 Triton not Groton. Either way there's only 2 engines for your truck. 5.4 and 4.6 being a 6 cylinder. Not recommended to switch engine size since the computer is setup to communicate with the 5.4. I know those engines have a lot of issues but not much you can do about it.
Triton engines are one of the best made. What happened?
I would see about trying to find out if you can put a 5.0 in it look in this world with all the mechanical achievements that can be done I'm sure it can be but the 5.0 is 5000 times the motor the 5.4 was and is a total disaster ford was sued over that motor for all the defected parts and engineering and all the catastrophic failures
The 5.0 would be a problem as it is a later engine. Your ECU would not work with that engine and the 5.0 ECU would not work with your transmission. If you want a 5.0 truck buy one and save your sanity.
They Dale a complete conversion kit to do just that it runs about 2 grand you can put that 5.0 in any ford product out their the 5.4 will be enormous headaches they spark plug problems steel plugs into alunimum first they only would only screw in 2 to 3 turns they would blow right out then they made them to long and they would oxidize in the motor and break if you tried to take them out so ford said anti seize them but to much anti sieze caused the plug not to spark correctly and they were two piece spark plugs to boot. Just junk, so what they ended up doing was helio coiling every cylinder. Then you have the manifold issue once again steel studs into aluminum, with the studs being to tiny even after 20k they were cracking and busting and what a job to fix that is. Now the roller rockers which was a good idea for hp but their junk too they crack then you get a ticking noise then it gets louder then it grenades. The coil packs are junk it's just to bad ford made that 351 for years and it was great engine then they built this 5.4 and just totally lost their damn minds.
