How get the blower motor offf a 98 cadillac deville
1 Answer
All Cadillac models employ a blower motor to push air into the cabin of the car. The blower motor is located on the firewall of the vehicle behind the air-conditioning vents. Over time, the blower motor can blow a fuse or wear down, decreasing the amount of air that is blown into the cabin (keep in mind that the blower motor does not have anything to do with cooling the air that is pushed into the cabin). You can purchase a new blower motor -- make sure that it is specific to your model of Cadillac -- at an auto parts store and install it in your own garage. Disconnect the negative battery cable with a socket wrench. Locate the blower motor housing bolted to the firewall between the two strut towers. Disconnect the sensor (located to the right of the housing, directly beneath right strut tower) that runs into the housing -- use your hands to pull the sensor out of the housing. Disconnect the electrical connectors that run from the housing to the spark plug wire header. Use your hands to disconnect the connectors from the blower motor housing. Once you have removed all of the connections from the housing, loosen the metal clips on the blower motor housing to pull out the old blower motor. Slide the new motor into the housing. You may have to rotate the housing a little to remove and install the motor -- you can adjust the housing`s position on the firewall with your hands -- and tighten the metal clips again to secure it into place. Connect the electrical connectors running from the spark plug wire header back to the blower motor housing. Reattach the sensor to the blower motor housing; make sure that you hear a snap when reconnecting the sensor, indicating that it is reattached. Use a socket wrench to reattach the negative battery cable. Start the vehicle and turn the air conditioning on to make sure that the new blower motor is working correctly.
