Shifter won't move out of park

Car won't shift into gears they
disconnected a part in the engine bay
to get it into a gear so I can move

The thing that locks the shifter in park is the shift interlock solenoid. A lot of times a wire breaks off. Also the brake light switch would need to be checked as that is part of the interlock system.

Hi, I have a 1998 Cadillac DeVille, there is a display that reads thief system detection, car may not restart. Now it will not go into gear! Can you please give me any information on this I just replaced the body control modular. Thank you!
