Humming noise on a 2011 Cadillac SRX 2wd performance
Asked by Rick May 06, 2018 at 03:38 PM about the 2011 Cadillac SRX Performance FWD
Question type: Maintenance & Repair
I have a 2011 Cadillac SRX 2wd sport
with 84,000 miles on it. It makes a
humming noise while driving it. The
noise gets faster and slower depending
on the speed. It sounds like big truck
tires going down the road. There us no
where or grooves in the rotors.

Maybe just tire noise. Tires do tend to get noisier as they wear.
I have similar problem with my srx 2011.....loud humming noise after automatic transmission finishes last gear...seems like sound of car not quite in the final gear but when I put in neutral while driving it still makes loud sound...so I am perplexed..did u find out what sound is?
Did any of you ever find out what this was? My 2012 SRX is doing the same thing.
You have a wheel bearing that needs replacing.....no doubt....when driving if you turn the wheel sharply to the right or left you’ll notice sound disappears..it’s the bearing opposite of the direction you turned the wheels...I think...but you definitely have a bearing needing replacing...proabably about $500 repair...good luck...mine was under extended warranty I purchased....

any one figuer this out yet? Definitely not the wheel bearing change toe in noise changes
I think it’s in the 4 wheel drive. Some trucks I drive sound like that when 4 wheel drive is engaged. My moms caddy 2009 cts4 is making the sound now. Low or deep sound that goes with the speed of the car ! ?
It turned out to be the bearing needing to be replaced...got rid of noise completely...been driving it for about a year since and car is like cotton on ice
Changed wrong bearing twice if sound still there...change other bearing n sound will go away
I hope you are right because i know exactly what you are talking about, mine just started doing it a week ago sound like rubber rubbing plastic and faster you go the faster it sounds. at around 10 to 30 mph you dont hear it as much. At 35 40 it starts i thought my tire was rubbing on the firewall at first
2012 SRX exactly the same noise above 10MPH, changed out the right rear wheel bearing no difference. put the right rear bearing on the right front. no difference. checked the left rear bearing, that seemed fine so i left it in place. the driverside wheel bearing is stuck in the axle and i was not able to get it off yet. i dont have any play in any of the bearings and left to right turns dont make any difference on the noise. no clunking or other noises. i will have to get the drivers side bearing replaced to see if that fixes it.
check rear end fluid first before changing the wheel bearings

Same problem on my 2015 SRX - Replaced all bearings. Auto shop says everything looks good, but it might be stuck in eco mode. Sigh
2014 SRX I just got with 100K on it. Noticed the noise, mechanic checked the axles and bearing hubs. Previous owner change axles and my guy changed the right front bearing hub. Noise persists! Its not the engine or anything related to RPM. Put it in N while at 60 no difference, rev engine son difference, the whining is directly correlated with speed. I do notice a relationship with being under power and coasting that alters the volume of the noise. So I am like the rest of the bloggers. Could it be the transfer case
just had the same problem on my 2013 srx. Changed all 4 hubs, brakes, and tires. Still same drone noise. Ended up being a software update from the dealer for the sound system. (Wierd I know) cost is $100 with warranty or $155 without warranty.
Well my persistent noise turned out to be the transmission. Found a used one with 50,000 for $500 and $1,000 install. Will have it installed next week.

My Cadillac srx 2012 makes a whistling noise only when I get up to 40 miles an hour. When I slow back down the noise goes away. When I slow down and I get to about 19 miles an hour my transmission shift hard going down to first gear. I never have a problem going back up it shifts fine. What could those issues be?

I have a 2013 SRX AWD with 75k and I have the same issue, I even got it from the garage like this and they couldn't figure it out. I hear it from 30mph to 80mph and it can get a little increasingly louder as I speed up, but being in or out of gear does not change the sound, it is strictly due to the speed I am going. New tires, bearings, oil, fluids. Has anyone found a remedy to this other than Guru6TM5X and his new transmission?
i had to change out all four wheel bearings as all of them were going bad at the same time, i also replaced them one at a time thinking i could save some money but they were all bad. i also replaced the passenger side axle thinking maybe that was it first but no luck there. replacing all of the wheel bearings on my 2012 SRX two wheel drive solved the problem.

I have a 2014 srx with similar whinning noise. I jacked up the car front end and found that the left front inner end of the cv axle that enters the transmision is fairly loose, I can move it easily up and down a good 1/8 of an inch. Does anyone know if there is a replacable bearing that can be installed in the transmision or is the bearing part off the axle asembly?
I believe the loud noise is related to the transmission.
It's not related to a 4 wheel vehicle

ouch.. since my last oil chg at Caddy dealer, my 2014 srx growls at me while moving, volume changes intermittantly. at speeds 5 to 65 but disappears at higher speeds. Loudest at low, 15- 25 mph but does change with in gear pressure. No noise at idle. Was 2000 miles from home and endured whole trip back. Transmission was flushed 2500 miles earlier.
