Yes, do not let money change hands before car is tested and you have a sale contract signed and notarized if possible. Never, never send money in any shape or form to anyone!!
Private seller.I have not seen the car in person, only pictures. We agreed on a price but, seller wants deposit to hold it till I can get to Florida from Myrtle Beach to inspect and finalize deal. How can I safely give him a deposit? I don't want to pay Escrow.com $150.The car sale is only $3400 total.Paypal won't cover private sales.Any other way to protect my deposit?
Where in Florida is the car? How much deposit is seller asking for? Remember that pictures don't always show everything. I understand that seller wants a deposit, but I think the only way that you can "try" to cover yourself is by mailing a check and write in the back that it is intended to hold car only and not to be deposited. However, there is no guarantee that, if you decide not to buy the car, seller may insists on some money. And my last question is, something really special about this car that you cannot purchase one in Myrtle Beach or surrounding area?
What difference where in Florida it is?Your suggestion about writing on the back of the check is usefull although I don't know if that will hold up.What's special is the condition,mileage,price..If I could find one similar closer to Myrtle Beach I'd buy it. I've been looking for months. Thanks
