How to change Spark Plugs on a 2011 Kia Rio
Asked by Rwolfgang518 Mar 11, 2014 at 08:07 PM about the 2011 Kia Rio LX
Question type: Maintenance & Repair
I recently replaced my ignition could
while under warranty and then 4
months later had to replace again.
Dealership said I need to replace
plugs. I can't believe Kia would put
cheap 30k mile plugs on a new car!
So before I dump a fortune I wanna
know how hard is it for someone who
can barely fill fluids replace the
plugs? Any YouTube or other vids
would be helpful!

as your looking at it from left to right it is 1,2,3,4 Changing the plugs is super easy! All you need is a socket wrench, 10mm socket and a spark plug socket with about a 4" extension. first remove the engine cover (3bolt) then remove each coil (they are the things with the wires running to them) these are removed by unplugging the wires (first you have to pull out the tab on the connector) and then removing the bolt and pulling them out. The spark plug is below the coil. There is a very good video on youtube for changing the coils.
I'm a girl and don't know anything about Carl's until I got tired of paying alot of money to mechanic I have a kia rio 2011 I got a 10 mm socket with an extended handle, then I took the top off it has 3 screws then underneath are the coils I have 4 when I needed the 10 mm for the coils now she runs great
