Possibly a bad key or ignition switch. http://repairpal.com/gm- passlock-anti-theft-systems

If your saying the starter motor won't crank and there is a problem with key, I suspect a problem with your security system? Does your key have a pellet in it? There is info all over the web about bypassing that pellet, but, if problem elsewhere in your security system, bypassing that pellet won't help anything.
