Cadillac Escalade concerns

Asked by Besosway Oct 02, 2016 at 07:49 PM about the 2011 Cadillac Escalade ESV Premium 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2011 Cadillac Escalade and it has
a little vibration to it when your at a light or
just parked. It's not constant and the
dealership told me it was normal, but I just
wanted a second opinion. By the way it
has 85000. I also wanted to know should I
be concerned about a litte ticking noise or
is this normal. I'm new to caddies and try
to learn the ends and outs of the vehicle

If it's minor vibration, specially when ac is on, it's normal. As far as the noise and not being able to hear it, can't tell u what it is but if the dealer said not to worry about it, it's probably nothing to worry about

I'm not sure if this is related but my Escalade was doing that at idle and as I started to move. It sounded like a fart and was very embarrassing. I did some research and found the splash/dust shield that protect the brake rotors can get badly rusted and develop cracks. I inspected the one side where the sound originated (Pass Side Rear) and found the shield was in bad shape. I replaced the shield and the noise was gone. The replacement is a little tricky because if you buy the once piece shields, I believe you have to remove the wheel bearing. Against the advice of my mechanic friend, I used the 2 piece shied that is available at popular auto stores and it worked fine...it may not last as long as the original, but with my amateur skills it was the way to go for me.
