Running tail light not working

did you check fuses?

a mechanic checked the fuses for me yesterday and said they were all ok, is it worth trying to find the exact fuse and take it out to see if its broken ?, a friend also mentioned something about it possibly being a grounding wire problem ?

This exact problem happened to me. Have you found a solution to this?

I start yesterday having the exact same problem. Checked 80 percent of fuses and they look good. Made an appointment with VW dealership over here in Germany. Did you fix your issue? What’s the problem?

Took mine to the VW dealership and the wires were.not connected properly in the body control module. The germans call it the black box. Wasnt bad either. Cost me 170 euros. I believe i messes it up by installing error free led turning lights. Electrical systen in my VW didnt like that.

Tell your dealer to check the body control module. That should do it

Had the same problem with the Jetta, it had a bad Fuse on slot #22 with 5 on the fuse.

ABS fuse seem to do the trick for me it was a green fuse under the hood

Does anyone have a fuse diagram for 2015 Jetta?

I drive a 2002 jetta and I had the same problem. My front and back running lights, passenger side. Wouldnt work and popped every #5 fuse I put in. I put a #15 in and all my lights are working.

GuruG, could you clarify what you mean by #5 and #15? If that is the amps, isn't it unwise to put a 15a in a 5a slot?

I have a 2013 VW Jetta S 2.0L both tail lights weren't working, turns out it was something to do with the ECU, simply had to disconnect the battery (+) side for about 10 minutes, you will need a 10mm socket for the terminal and the bulb sizes for the trunk housing tail lights is 7528 as well as 5007

This is after disconnecting the battery the first time to discover the bulbs in the trunk portion were burned out as well.

Is the inside tailight is working?

Reynaldo if you're referring to my picture of the 2013 Jetta then yes they are now working, I had to replace the bulbs though (5007) due to not knowing they were out until after giving the ECU a hard reset.

II Teej I cannot see the inner light in the picture...my vw has no light on the passenger side inner

Yeah both interior lights in the picture is from when they were burned out that's why you can't see them on. Did removing the battery terminal for 5-10 minutes work? If not I'd recommend trying to replace the bulbs and the sizes you may need are in my comment above. If that doesn't work I read it could be a bad grounding wire in the trunk I believe.

My 2013 VW Golf TDi Wagon had left brake and Tail Light not working. Checked/tested all bulbs...ok. Checked.tested all fuses in fuse block in left side of dash...All ok. Checked all fuses under hood in main fuse block beside battery...all. ok. Further testing showed that when I turned on the headlights, and/or applied brake...THE LEFT REAR SIDE HAD NO +12V AT THE PINS FOR BRAKE, OR TAIL LIGHTS...The right side tail/brake lights were working fine. SUSPECT BODY CONTROL MODULE HAD TURNED OFF VOLTAGE TO THIS AREA. Disconnected +12V battery for 30 minutes....and now +12V is being sent to all the pins on the LHS connector, and all lights working Great!!!

Greetings all my left rear running light and tail light is not working on my 2017 VW Jetta, I have changed placed a new bulb after I done that my running light and my tail light stopped working. However, the brake light and blinker work fine, is there anything else. I need assist on what you may think the problem may be. thanks!

Lightly clean the contact points with a nail file where the tail lights attach to the cluster. They tend to corrode.
