Excessive Oil

Asked by Guru9TN3B Jun 16, 2017 at 03:14 PM about the 2011 Honda Accord EX

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

After a recent oil change, I saw oil leaking on the floor of the garage.  Took it back to the mechanic who said, "There is nothing wrong."  A month later my indicator says oil is at 30% - which is way too low for only a month.  When checking the stick it shows over the maximum.  What should I do?

The oil meter is just a calculation that the ECU makes based on your driving and the amount of miles on the car. I would ignore the meter and change the oil and filter every 5,000 miles with a quality synthetic oil. Oil over the maximum is not a good idea. If it is just a tiny bit over don't worry, if it is a quart over have the excess oil removed.
