What do I need to do to keep my trunk lid open?

My 2011 Honda Accord has a spoiler on the trunk lid. It was on the car when purchased new. At, first there was no problem. Now the lid almost never stays up and will come down unexpectedly and smash me on the head. What needs to be done to get the trunk lid to stay up?

Does it have a trunk lid shock/hyd support? If so it's worn out and needs to be replaced.
There's no obvious gas struts visible. Could they be hidden behind or above the swing arms attached to the inside of the trunk lid?
The Accord has a spring hidden behind the lid hinges. Normally this is located on the right side under the rear deck behind the hinge. With a spoiler attached, there is supposed to be a heavy duty spring added on the left side as well. My right spring was discarded and only the heavy spring was attached to the right side. Now I'm getting a normal right spring and attaching the heavy spring to the left side where it should have been originally. So, two springs attached correctly and no more problem. There are no struts, just springs and they're hard to get to.
The dealer discovered both springs were attached but they were installed backwards. The heavy and lighter spring positions were reversed and the trunk now pops open and stays open great.
