Car title is in my wife's maiden name

Asked by Guru9X2XZL May 27, 2021 at 07:04 PM about the 2011 Honda Civic LX

Question type: Car Selling & Trading In

I'm selling my Wife's Honda Civic and the title is in her maiden name, not mine.
Is this a problem, and if so, what would I need to do?

She will have to sign the title. See your DMV about the name change issue but probably all she has to do is show the marriage license.

Your Wife just needs to sign the title using her maiden name. Easy peasy! She will not be present when the new owner clears the title into their name so DMV won't care about her name. Only the name of the new owner. Hope that helps! Jim
