1993 Cadillac Allante

Asked by featherstone Jun 04, 2014 at 12:15 PM about the 1993 Cadillac Allante FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

the battery is fine
it often but not always takes several turns of the key to start
especially when it sits for more than a day or 2
the dash lights properly all come on and you can hear the ding ding you are supposed to
but it does noting but click click
until after several tries it finally starts
someone suggested it needs a battery manager
but i think that would only be if it only had trouble starting when it sits for long time
but while that increases the chances of it being a problem
in fact it almost always is a problem when it sits for a long period of time
but it also is a problem many times when it doesn't sit
in fact most times when it just sits overnight
and often even if only sits a couple hours
so i think it must be something in the ignition system
like a wire not properly grounded or a short or a bad connection or a bad ignition coil
Any thoughts??
PS Also looking for a good mechanic in the Detroit Metro area who specializes in Cadillacs.
