how to disable chip in key

Asked by scotty416 Apr 19, 2015 at 12:03 PM about the 2011 Honda CR-V LX AWD

Question type: General

Hello, odd question but i gotta ask, re: my Moms 2011 Honda CRV, Mom is 85 and
should not drive alone. Her driving is actually not bad - but because of her age she
should not be out there alone. So I do not want her starting the car by using her key, I
have the second key. I was wondering if there is a quick method to deactivate her key
quickly, as it is impossible to get it away from her for any length of time - she is wise
to my "evil ways". ( ie., demagnetize, microwave etc )

Any help will be appreciated...

Have a new key cut but not programed. it will open door, and start the car for about 2 seconds then shut down, she will not go and switching key would be easy.....

Thanks for the reply, sucks getting old. Poor mother now diagnosed with Alzhiemers - forgets everything current - but remembers driving - I know the one moment I am not with her - she will wander out to the car. Even with Alzhiemers, she is quite resourceful - clever like a raccoon.
