I have a Kia soul +, I can turn on my lights and drive somewhere and when I turn the vehicle off with them on, they turn off automatically. Its a good feature to have if you forget to turn it off when you get out of the car. As far as how to automatic lights go, I am not sure. I am still trying to figure that out.

You didn't mention the trim level of your Soul. I have a 2013 Base. I keep my light switch in the on position all the time. When I turn the engine off, leave the car, and press lock twice (the horn chirps), the headlights turn off. Even if I leave the car without locking, the lights will still turn off after a couple minutes. I'm assuming that the ! and possibly the + has true automatic headlights, where you can set them to turn on when the outside light reaches a certain low level. I don't know exactly how that works for Kia's. Other cars I've had with that feature have an automatic switch setting to activate that function, but your owner's manual should tell you.
