How does CarGuru value differ from Edmunds or Kelly Blue Book

Asked by Guru92C63X Sep 08, 2022 at 01:20 PM about the 2011 Lexus RX Hybrid 450h AWD

Question type: General

I am trying to determine the "actual cash value" for  a Lexus 450H for an
insurance settlement. In particular, I want to be sure the last two year
increase in used car values and the impact of recent high gas prices have
been properly figured in arriving at a settlement figure. The CarGurus price
trend web page indicates the average value for my 2011 Lexus 450H is
$17,156. My offer from insurance adjuster is $12,645.

Mileage and overall condition of the vehicle at the time of the loss effect the actual value of your specific vehicle. In addition opinions of the vehicle condition will vary. You might think the vehicle was in excellent condition but the insurance adjuster might rate the vehicle as very good. Vehicle options and option packages play into the value of the vehicle as well. I believe most insurance companies use kbb.com for their value determinations. Ask the insurance company how they arrived at their number and give them a printed copy of your number. Don't forget about the deductible, if applicable, as well. Hope that helps! Jim
