Can u check and see if the rear back up camera in the Ford emblem is bad without breaking the plastic tabs that hold in the camera and emblem?

Asked by Todd Oct 31, 2015 at 05:35 PM about the 2011 Ford F-150 FX4 SuperCrew LB 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Internet claims to even check if a wire came
off the rear back up camera is bad that you
have to remove the emblem and it states
that cannot be done without breaking the
plastic anchors and having to replace the
emblem.  Took it to a  Ford service center
and they quoted a 489.00 replacement and
said the camera is bad yet the rear
camera/and emblem is still on without
looking line it has been touched.  Want to
know if it's possible before I go confront the
service shop.  Thank you.

The Ford dealer is going to be the one that knows what to do in this case. Take it back to the dealership for repair. One other option is to find the part and buy it at a discount and install it yourself. The downside of repairing it yourself is if your original camera ends up being okay and there is a wiring issue, the new camera you purchased will not be returnable.
