heater problems on 2011 f-150

How cold was it outside and how long did you drive to work? Did you have the truck last winter? If it's not that long of a drive too work then I would leave the temp control on Manual

If the coolant is full, run it at 2000 rpm for 2 min. Then use a thermometer from the kitchen to observe coolant temp. T- stat opens at 192 deg F. If that is above, then the controls and actuators in the climate control may need put through their capabilities, use a therm for duct temp. suspect temp blend door control issue. Without knowledge of the system options in use, can send you to perf. test them and get any and all symptoms and description of display, is it auto temp? Electronic auto temp? or manual cable operated or what ? The blend door can actuate ? or is obstructed? does the opposite of what it says? or what is the situation there? somwe systems can be self tested, some can be read for codes, others just simply have a pen go down the defroster? or the blend actuator or cable, what have you? unsure for 2011, but Ford is infamous as well as writing pen setter downers.

For awhile the inside temp senders were an issue, others had communication with scan tool issues, so if you dont have a simple one, they get more experience with them in the service drive at the Ford garage. prob tell you likely cause? or basic diag? tests and inspections? simplify, but after learning what components, ya kno?

I have the same problem with my 2011 F150, and have noticed in the last week or so that the electric engine fan has been running more than usual, even in the recent colder weather (below freezing at night, 40-50F during the day). Could this be related to the heater blowing cold air?

What were your results for all the afore mentioned questions? If your vehicle does not overheat, have low coolant, and you see no signs for a cause, there is no reason not to call for a service appointment. The person answers, you say, service advisor, you relate the concern, get an appointment. They respond. They may need your VIN to see what your shortlist is for causes that would not seem obvious necessarily.

I had loss of heat with my 2011 F150. Was first winter in cold weather. I noticed the electric engine fan running once or twice after the heat failed. I checked the coolant level and it was low. The heater hoses were just barely warm. Topped it off, one gallon, and now I have heat again. The heater hoses are hot. The blend door still knocks but I don't care as I have both a/c and heat again.
