Top up your radiator and coolant overflow bottle. Make sure your radiator cap is good. The heater core sits high on the cooling system where air bubbles collect if there's room for any. After a few drive cycles, things should be working okay again. Keep in mind, some of these newer water pumps have plastic blades that break off over time and coolant won't circulate well. You can check this without removing the water pump. Rev up the engine while it's hot/warm and look/see down into the radiator if coolant is moving. Should be.

Could be the water pump or air in the system .Look up how to purge air from a cooling system, it is easy.
