Should I replace all 4 tires at the same time on an AWD SUV

I've put an offer on a 2011 Hyundai Santa Fe with AWD and I'm concerned that they put new all season tires on the front and left older all season tires on the back.  The back tires look good from the outside, and the tread depth measures 6mm in the middle, but on the inside they are worn down to just under 3 mm.  Of course the dealership is stalling that the back tires meet standards, but I wonder how I'll be able to rotate the existing tires to meet the conditions of the warranty.   Also, my 4 wheel drive truck requires all the tires to be changed at the same time, so I'm thinking it should be the same on an AWD.  What problems could I encounter with new tires on the front & older on the back?

If you have the money get all four tires...

Is your truck full time AWD or only when you put it into AWD? You do not HAVE to replace all 4 tires at the same time if the 2 tires are still good, but the new tires should always go on the rear, not the front. It is really a matter of budget and if you want all 4 tires to be of the same brand. You can check the tire Make and style and if they are different, tell the dealer you will not buy the car without a matched set of 4.

as long as the tire size is exactly the same and wear...its ok. the brand shouldnt be an issue..also make sure the tires are balanced and weighted properly..The truck can have more than one brand but the wear has to be the same..
