Question type: Maintenance & Repair

1990 Fleetwood running very, very rough.  Won't stay
running.  Cuts off and then won't start again.  Service engine
light comes on and turns off.  New distributor.  Is it the engine
computer? Mechanic has had it for 3 months already and still
can't say whats wrong.

You can pull the trouble codes by using the climate control panel. With the ignition in the run position and the engine off, turn the climate control system off. Then press and hold the off and warmer buttons on the climate control panel. The two digit trouble codes will be displayed on the climate control panel beginning with 12. The number 12 is just telling you that you are in diagnostics mode. The codes will be displayed in order, lowest to highest then the number 12 will come up again. When you get the codes post them here and we can help further. In the meantime, you definitely need to get another mechanic! One who is familiar with OBD I era Cadillacs!! Hope that helps! Jim
