Jeep Compass won't start after closing hood, starts fine once it has been bump started, no starting problems until you open the hood again, turn the key and all get is silence no clicking noises.

I'm not clear on whether the hood is "open", or if the hood is "closed" when it won't start, but anyway, try this. If this Jeep has the "Remote Start" feature there will be a safety lockout switch that keeps the motor from starting when the hood is open. Look for this switch that clicks shut when the hood goes shut. It may be bumped or broken causing the starter circuit to not work right when the hood is closed. Check it out and see what happens.

Thank you Malcolm. Okay, look for that safety lockout switch I described and see if it's working. You can also bypass or hotwire it as a test. Good luck.
