Asked by Sergio May 31, 2016 at 05:15 PM about the 2006 Chrysler 300 RWD

Question type: Shopping & Pricing

I've never changed the alternator, I'm going to have it checked today.
My battery light came on earlier this weekend..

In the event that it is the alternator (115k mi)
I'm trying to buy the part, to then have it installed.
What's the best place to find a list of alternators?
I've seen AC Delco, Ultima, which is best?
I don't want to buy something I'll later regret.

Appreciate your input!

I appreciate your prompt response Tom! Surely anything I find under my car's details will fit -- any recommendations on a reliable brand? I'm not 100% on mechanics, I have heard of AC Delco & Mopar. I had quoted the service on yourmechanic.com & they quoted me $362 for the Ultima(r) select found at Oreilly for $60 less, their charge of course.. Do I risk in buying a Mopar Reman myself? ..and having them do the labor. Thanks for your time.

Hi Tom, I did not replace the battery yet. I went to Autozone, when testing the battery they said it was not fully charged. The battery was then charged. Then they tested the battery, determining that it was bad, due dropping charge almost immediately after charging. Later, I went to Advance Auto Parts where I'd purchased the battery, they ran a test, the results attached. They indicated that the alternator was "spiking". So, a week after the battery was charged and the battery light gone, it again turned on yesterday. Do you know anything about the alternator spikes?
