2005 chrysler 300 starts when it wants!! tired of getting stranded!

8 months ago car would not start, then started after sitting overnight. Drive it to destinantion then would not start! after paying 300.00 for new key and reprogramming ran for about 8 months no problem. problem started again, the dealer says it is ignition switch 220.00! drove 3 days and the B**** is stranding me again!!  Dealer said it threw out 4-5 codes that it was ignition switch! I do not believe it was put on the computer!  Tired of being stranded is there anyone who knows what the problem would be.. oh also been told antitheft unit but the reprogramming of key worked for 8 months! PLEASE HELP!!

Tracy, Google you car using keywords: 2005+Chrysler+300+AWD+ technical +manuals, they are a pdf download and not free but cost less than the books at the parts store. You can but them and have them shipped, or if you are willing to use up 80-100 pages of paper and ink, print it.

I have same thing on my 300. On mine it is the gear position switch. When it doesn't start I just have to re-position the gear selector in park and it works.

there is a cut out on the gear box selector , theese some times play up triggered by the selector and by the ignition same as on the 900 series saab. the part is basicly a micro switch saying the car is either in neutral or park to get the ignition to send a signal to the ecu to tell it to start the car if this has gone down then you will not get the signal to your ecu and it wont start the part is easly fitted and cost over here in the uk about 60 pounds. regards j.s autos
