2005 crossfire goes into limp mode

Car will go into Limp mode after about 5 miles. I pull over and disconnect the battery for about 60 seconds and it will reset the vehicle and it will let me go about another 5 miles before going into limp mode again. Once in limp mode when i shift the gear from park to drive it slams into position. concerns i had leading up to this problem was that when i would floor my pedal the car would take off as usual but once i let up on the gas pedel it would get real sluggish if i was to put my foot on the gas. the rpm would climb real slowly. i could floor it again but it would take forever for the rpms to climb back up. To fix this issue i literally had to pull over shut the car off then start it back up and everything was fine again. Any help would be great thank you!
