2011 corolla has static from radio when breaks are applied. Why?

I am guessing a bad electrical connection in the brake light system. Arcing makes radio noise. Dielectric grease will reduce this problem so use it on all the connections.

Metal on metal brakes will do that. Check the brake pads.

Try this: if the static only occurs when using the radio, and not when using a CD or an aux input, then it's the amplified antenna circuit that is being impacted, usually there is a noise suppressor on that circuit to keep it from picking up electrical discharges as random static. It may have a ground going bad. If you want to troubleshoot this yourself pick up a good wiring diagram for your car.
