2012 ford focus wont start

my 2012 ford focus will not start out of
nowhere when the key is in the iginition
everything turns on but when i turn the key to
start up nothing happens no clicking nothing
decided to change starter thinking that was
the problem but still nothing happens ..it does
start up but only if u start it manually from the
starter itself and turn key but once you turn it
off it wont start again maybe the immobilizer?
please help

Left side of steering column is a piece that looks like a hollowed out key across from the key hole....its designed to slide back to crank motor. If it broke, no cranking unless done manually

I don't remember the name of the part, but It is in the steering column housing rebuild kit (I know you can buy it itself also) including a picture for description
