Ford Focus 2012 recall

Asked by baconsarney Dec 01, 2022 at 07:56 PM about the 2012 Ford Focus SE

Question type: General

How long does the recall last for a Focus of this year. I read here at CarGurus that unless it has 150k you can get your transmission fixed. It's 2022 now, does this still apply?

Found this on the internet, hope it helps. If you have a recall that has been ongoing for several years you may be wondering if it’s still valid. The answer is yes car recalls are always valid. However it’s important to note that the NHTSA may choose to close a recall if the automaker has made significant progress in correcting the problem. If you’re unsure if your car is still under recall the best thing to do is contact your automaker or check the NHTSA website. You can also sign up for recall alerts so you’ll be notified as soon as a recall is issued for your vehicle.

A safety recall issued by NHTSA never expires. But a voluntary recall issued by the manufacturer, such as Ford, for example, often does. It's also important to know what is covered by the recall. An old worn out transmission that's stopped working wouldn't be covered by a recall. But a transmission mount that was made wrong, can break, causing the transmission to shift, and cause an accident would be. Hope that helps! Jim
