Mustang recommended Octane

Asked by Jimmy Nov 13, 2020 at 09:23 PM about the 2012 Ford Mustang V6 Premium Convertible RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

2012 Ford Mustang 6 with 135,000 miles. What octane should I be using? The
manual says 87, but the car is sluggish on initial acceleration. Would you move
up to 89 octane?

87 octane is good. There is no benefit to 89 octane but try it if you like. A V6 is gonna be slow because it is not a V8. Tune it up if you have not done so.

So the manual says 87 octane, why would you even question that? Use 87!
