This sounds like a failing PC. Replace the PVC, which is part of the oil filter housing. It takes about 3 hours.

No you need to see if the recall was do excited for that particular year 2012 S60 it was and still is a huge deal Volvo made a big mistake with the model for 2012. The biggest recall Volvo has ever gone through. If your car for what ever reason didn't get the recall done Volvo has and still does cover the cost of a engine. Just look online 2012 Volvo S60 blown engine /recall. I food it on the Volvo website . I had the same year make and model I do the maintenance like clock work. Then out of the blue light came on with know I just had it serviced not more than 3 weeks before the light came on so I still was driving the car had an appointment set up for 2 days later. Well it didn't make it late morning the day of my appointment it was blown. From what I have found out of tons of research when the light comes on it was to late oil was all but gone, a cost of less then 20.00 has been costing the car buyer's thousands of dollars if you're one of the people who they fought saying you didn't do this or then something else. So long story short look at there website Volvo
My 2012 Volvo S60 started making a loud whining noise when u start it but it does stop but when u give it gas in park or gear it gets louder the more gas u give it anyone know what it could be
As noted above, it's the oil trap/filter housing. Had mine replaced and it solved a myriad of problems.
It's just the turbo... Nothing to worry about... That's the sound turbos make when spooling (while accelerating)
